Description:
What is a Mahl Stick?
Known as a support stick, the Mahl stick is an indispensable tool for painting. This serves to give us stability whenever we want to do a detailed painting. Basically, a Mahl Stick is a support to be able to make brushstrokes with precision without fear.
How to use a Mahl Stick?
Sometimes we have the need to lean on the work to make the details that requier preciseness. The problem comes when the paint is not dry enough to support us with our finger. For this we can use a Mahl stick to support it with its head in an area where the paint is dry and stabilize our hand by resting it on the stick and thus be able to carry out our strokes safely.
If your canvas is wet, you should support the head of the Mahl Stick outside of the canvas. It may seem difficult, but once you get the hang of it you will do your details faster and without fear. With the touch all the natural tremors of the hand are avoided and a finer line is achieved.
